Tange is a Los Angeles artist born in South Korea, adopted by a Japanese American family. Boundaries, desire, and permanence are recurring themes in their work.
Message"I Could Dance Forever, I Thought. #1", 2024, is a meditation on the body as both vessel and commodity and on performance ephemera as an artifact of labor and artwork. Through movement, endurance, and the physical remnants left behind, this piece examines longing, abandonment, and the invisible toll of emotional and physical labor. It mourns what is lost—home, language, ancestry—while honoring the resilience embedded in the body, a site of grief, survival, and transformation. It is part of The Spirits of My Ancestors Perform With Me Always series.
