Adapted Intentions is a multisensory installation which becomes activated by each viewer. In utilizing web technologies, creating a tactile, visual and aural experience, we are interested in exploring the way human memory is constructive and destructive. In providing a familiar communal space such as a sandbox, participants can illustrate old memories or create new ones.
There is a large backlit sandbox in the room. The sand, when written in or moved makes the light shine through, giving dynamism to the words in the dark room. Using light-colored sand allows the patterns to emerge from the light below.
This piece includes a delayed live stream projected on the wall, programmed by Stefano Funk, discussing the ephemeral qualities of memory and the effect of our actions. By using web technologies, creative coding integrating technology into physical art, and incorporating user involved interaction that speaks to the way that people use their devices, reflects the assimilation of physical and technical worlds.
This piece expands the conversation of collaborative performance work that engages the public in a meaningful way, encouraging transgenerational play.
The soundscape was created by Brent Kiser and cello piece composed by Ro Rowan with a dissonant past and a hopeful future in mind. Cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma have suggested the instrumental equivalent to the human voice is found in the resonance of the cello.
