FRAMED - I used a technique of mixing and pouring on paint in various 'concoctions' to create the textured and colorful base, or underpainting, in a form that roughly resembled what I was wanting to express. From there I added a collage of found papers, and sometimes more paint or other mediums. I tried to achieve a cohesive look in these multiple layers and mediums so that they all played nicely together. In Homestead, there is the sweet, simple, and inviting little farm that only hints at the endurance and tenacity those often isolated farm families displayed as they tended the prairie lands, and the rich earth underfoot.
