UVAA Plein Air Rvent 2019

Last September I participated In the annual plein air painting event put on j’y the Umpqua Valley Art Associatio. It was the first such event i have painted in for many year. This is one of my 3 paintings from the show. I paint on location often but rarely with any focus on finishing on site. I like to build up surfaces, trying to develop a tactile aspect to my work that I find appealing. Today I went back into the painting working to increase areas of contrast and adjust the values in ways they make a more interesting painting. I reworked the rocks some to make them more a focal point and emphasize gesture In their shapes that I felt I had left behind.
