It also makes room in the studio for new work. I have pulled older pieces that I have never framed, but hold on to because I like them. They are too good to discard or paint over and yet never seem to find a spot in a show that earns them a frame. It's impossible to frame everything! They are often out of the main image areas I work in or represent explorations into new ideas or methods. Both things that make for interesting work but don't necessarily match up with enough other pieces tome a coherent show.
