Daily Drawing

I enjoy handmade items a things passed along that remind or teach me about the lives of others I’ve know. These bowls are from my mother-in-laws home. She referred to them as smoked glass pieces. I’m thinking the orange opalescent color comes from a process called fuming but I’ll have to research to be sure. They have an embossed pattern pressed into the out side. The small silverplate box was my mom’s. It has WWI vintage little things inside including my dad’s WWII dog tags. Right now it’s a black ink drawing but I plan to add a bit of color to the vintage red glass ornament that lays in the blown glass dish my grandmother brought home from Murano, Italy.
