I have five paintings in this show. I'm featuring Chetco Point painting today. The air at the coast is constantly changing in many ways but is always filled with fresh moisture. It is sometimes visible as it becomes heavy and turns to fog or drips and pools on every surface. It is part of the pleasure of being there, it is part of the reflective nature of the light and the lush visual experience.

This painting is on a panel that lends itself to layering of the paint, building it up and scrapping it back to reveal textures and shifts in value and hue that help develop the complexity of the scene as it reveals and implies the vegetation that lay across the massive land formations and the atmospheric moisture as the wind currents flow out to sea.
