The topo map imagery in this piece--a section of South Table Mountain--was printed onto a piece of damask tablecloth using a historic photographic process called a cyanotype. It's basically a blueprint. I used bleach on the print to lighten to color to the yellowish hue and wrung out the cloth to achieve the mottling, which was actually a bit of an accident, but I like the way it looks almost like the relief of a map. The 'flower' is the outline of a lace doily.
