This is a very personal piece. It is dedicated to my 19 year old daughter, Allison, who has been home-bound with chronic Lyme Disease and other health problems for many years. The words "Just Keep Swimming" and "Float a While" come from her self developed coping skills that she shares over social media with other young people with chronic disease. There are too many young people that have chronic invisible illnesses and are so isolated that they themselves become "invisible" to the rest of the world. There are also a lot of parents that have to quit their jobs - and their "normal" lives - to find support and treatment for their children.
Allison's message is "Just keep swimming, and if you can't, float a while". In other words, its ok to take a break... you don't always have to "stay strong".
Just don't ever give up.
Dreams do come true.
It gets better.
