17.5x9x4.5” painted, layered combine with artist’s book
Layered Watermedia panting on panel, artifacts, stream of consciousness mark modified handmade artist’s book, artist designed and carved alphabet block printing, watercolor paper, painted with densely pigmented water media and Atlantic Ocean water from the Brough of Birsay, Orkney. Orkney poet George McKay Brown poem text hand printed in artist designed and bound book of watercolor paper pages intentionally designed to display a limited glimpsed view of selected pages, wood, electrical tape, Caran D’ache, and a vintage machine tool drawer. The poem states “he carries a cairngorm on his cold finger” - a “cairngorm” is a Scottish mountain range and / or a rose quartz crystal. Joined with hardware and cold connections to form a “wall totem” of my journeys tracing Norse heritage, archaeology, and epic sagas.
