Creating this work during Covid isolation, I found myself thinking often about last moments, last breaths, last hug, last kiss.
While in Japan, November 2019, the gingko trees were shedding massive amounts of yellow gold leaves. These ancient trees demanded attention; I brought home leaves without purpose. Then I read The Overstory by Richard Powers. His narrative about trees created awareness. These ancient Japanese gingko trees have survived —even atomic bombs. The gingko trees’ spectacular gold leaves were caused by abnormally high seasonal temperatures.
