Size: 8x10x.875in on cradled panel My original photography, transferred into beeswax with pan pastel added.
I was fortunate to be able to attend an art retreat in Ireland in October of 2023. I decided to create a series of encaustic photo transfers of the many beautiful pictures I took. Ireland’s allure unfolded through my lens, capturing its lush landscapes, and timeless charm in every photo.
This piece was created by transferring the ink of the photograph into the beeswax. I left the piece fairly simple, as I think it shows the dream or memory like quality that the beeswax gives the piece. This piece is a part of the Irish Memories and These Dreams series.
This is the feeling that doing an encaustic photo transfer creates. It creates an ethereal effect on the beautiful landscape pictures of Ireland. It especially works for the areas of mist that appear in a number of pictures. I hope the memories speak to you.
