The surface of this piece is composed of individually cast ceramic elements molded from a medication needle cap protector. Once cast, those leather-hard pieces are adhered onto a handbuilt vessel and cohesively fired. By allowing for variation in the surface elements to morph, I take advantage of subtle variations offered by the clay body. This variation in repeated elements is akin to the similar yet individual nature one might find in an anemone’s tentacles or starfish’s arms. A sense of movement frozen in fired clay gives life and individuality to these objects
