The young beaver floats, chomping on young aspen and fattening up for the harsh winter ahead. As an adult, this beaver will play a critical role in a healthy ecosystem. The dams beavers build cause streams to flood creating ponds and wetland areas providing habitat for songbirds, waterfowl, fish and other aquatic animals.
