As has frequently been the case during the seventy years of my life, I've turned to the comfort of color on canvas to express my deepest emotions. This particular painting represents my sadness and fears surrounding the disappearance of my beautiful pregnant niece, Laura, as we in our entire family struggle to understand and hang on to every hope for her safe return. Although I suspected it, I painted this piece not knowing she had already been brutally murdered by her boyfriend.
