"The intricate drawing with the face of an older woman, a woman in a veil, a greek statue, a scroll with writing and roses- If this is the one of a lady with a flower underneath her, that is my Mom (Lila Marra Martinez). The rose is my family and each peddle is my (3) brothers and (2) sisters. The black peddle is me, the black sheep. The guy on the cross being crucified is me. The lady with the veil is Virgin Mary, the scroll is me waiting in Nahuatl Language (Aztec). This drawing was for my mom for Mother's Day. I was letting her know to never blame herself for the person I’ve become. I told her I would give my life for her on any given day and if I were lying, let me die as soon as I'm done writing this. I would sacrifice my life for my Mother. I put her through so much. I’m the only child that's been to prison, been in and out since juvenile. The stem is my Dad, rest in peace. The stem holds the flower up which is my family. I believe I drew a leaf which is my mom's Boyfriend. I let her know she's the most Beautiful mother in this world. She's catholic so that's why I put Virgin Mary." - Daniel Martinez
