When I do these pictures, I like to immerse myself in them. I like to feel that I’m in that setting. When I do one set in the 70’s or 80’s, they're fun to do because they bring back a lot of memories. This is especially true with this one. I went to college in the 80’s and doing tis picture made me very nostalgic. I just felt like making it a snowy landscape. I have a lot of good memories walking around campus with friends on a cold, sometimes snowy day.

I laughed at the cat jumping. Whenever I draw a cat in these pictures, most of them are just sitting there or walking around. I needed an action pose. I’ve drawn a number of wiener dogs in these pics. I used to do it because a friend of mine likes them. But, I’ll throw one in once in a while because they’re just funny looking.

The 3 guys under the far arch are jocks and frat boys. My friends and I used to make fun of guys like that. For one thing, they’re conformists. College is a time to be non-conformist, break out of the mold, don't be put into one. Show some individuality.

My choice of cars: These were the only reference pics of 80’s cars I had at the time. The red-orange one next to the Wagoneer is a Delorean. I don’t think they made them in that color but it balances our well with the blue. Plus, I had a Datsun back then that was the same exact color. The chick next to it I was trying to make her hair like “Sara Connor’s” in “The Terminator” (1984). I think I got it fairly close. I love how that face came out, too. As I was drawing this, I was coming up with stories for each of the people but it would take up several pages talking about them all. Maybe someday.

The guy in the puffy vest is with some random girl he met in a bar the previous night but he wants to get away from her. She seems that she might be too clingy. Plus, he likes them a bit more… uh… robust.
