He's obviously pissed off at something and is coming to sort it out. I wanted to get creative with the lights and shadows. It was hard figuring out where the light on the floor and other things would hit, but I think it came out Ok.

I drew an evil-looking kid in the back and a friend suggested he should be levitating the potted plant. I loved that idea and laughed when he suggested that, so I re-positioned the plant.

In all of my pics, I like to really immerse myself in the setting so that I and my viewers can really "get into" the little world I created. There have been a few where I didn't do that well, but in this one, I really nailed it. You can almost hear the creak of the floorboards as Miss Abernathy walks around, the faint murmur of the students as they occasionally say something to their classmates, the shuffling of papers, the scratch of a pen or pencil as something is written, the old musty smell with a hint of smoke from the potbellied stove...etc. I think I achieved a real sense of it being an old-time classroom around the 20's. It's morning on a beautiful late-Spring day and if you listen very closely, you can almost hear the faint chirping of birds outside. The bottle on the desk is Miss Abernathy's special "tonic." It's one of those cure-all patent medicines that's 50% alcohol. By the end of the school day, Miss A.enjoys games and singalongs with the kids. Maybe, that's why the superintendent is visiting.

Although, there are a few spots of color, I tried to use mostly earth tones, like an old sepia-toned photo.
