Sao / Kotoko horse ride in African bronze. The horse and the rider are frequently represented in African art. Especially in the north and the west of the continent, these animals are totemic and are associated to prestige. The horse in this statuette is stylised, the horseman is wearing the headgear of this region. The statuettes comes from a private collection in Belgium and is dated 1940 to 1950.
