During harvest here in Kansas in 2019, I drove around the wheat fields in the area and collected a handful of wheat growing in the ditches to bring home and use as still life.
The stalks waving in the wind like an ocean of gold are beautiful to see and inspired this illustration. To find beauty in the cycles of life is the lesson learned by watching the amber waves of wheat roll in the breeze before they are harvested. Stop, close your eyes and hear the rustle of the wheat and joyful songs of the birds. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face and smell the dust and chaff in the air.
