Plein air painting on Oak Creek is a sublime experience when we allow ourselves to relax and enjoy the process! Painting is a challenging venture, even when in the comfort of the studio - painting when the sun is on a continuous path across the sky, possible physical discomfort if it's too hot, too cold, bugs, windy, uncomfortable seat, etc., etc., adds to the challenge many-fold. So, I focus intently on the scene, reveling in the pleasures of the day. This is not a guarantee, but I paint so much better when I ALLOW myself to enjoy the entire process. This painting is an example of both success and "not so much" - there are passages I wish I had painted better. Nevertheless, the experience made me happy and I now have an indelible memory of that magical scene!
