The red drum, also known as redfish, channel bass, puppy drum, spottail bass, or simply red, is a game fish found in the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to northern Mexico. In coastal Georgia, where I grew up, redfish season is a big deal.
This piece allowed me to play with surface and color in the scales. I enjoyed the extra long horizontal composition and the layering of the subject over the landscape image.
