This scene was inspired by the North Carolina mountain town of Todd, near Blowing Rock. We went tubing down the New River there that summer, and afterwards I was captivated by the local farms and country roads, such as this one. I played with a wide range of greens in this palette and used the Blue Ridge to give the illusion of distance in the landscape.
