The complexities of losing and finding oneself in work, relationships, and daily life are mirrored in the intricacies of a piece of art. I get lost in colors, lines, movement, texture--in all the exploration involved in creating. I constantly wonder and wander. Then I sometimes I get stuck. It stops me in my tracks. So I sit with it— but not for long. I can get lost thinking too. I pick another point and start on that path. I do that over and over, lines swerving to break abruptly, colors deepening, shapes rising and dissolving. I'm in intriguing places but I'm still lost in a maze. Until a broken line drawn alongside a color becomes an edge. It hints of an opening so I dive into the light. A glow radiates from the painting. I found this one-- the right feeling, the combination of all the losts that made it. It's as it should be now. And I could never have found it without every decision and intuition and rest stop made before it.
