On lazy summer days, crowds gather on the beach at Point Betsie. Much time is spent looking for petosky stones and playing beach volleyball. Point Betsie is a historical lighthouse on Lake Michigan, north of Frankfort, Michigan. It was acquired in 2004 by Benzie County from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and is open on weekends in the summer. Construction began in 1854 and was completed in 1858. Point Betsie was the last lighthouse on Lake Michigan to be completely automated in 1983. You can read more about its history at http://www.pointbetsie.org
