In the past, it had not occurred to me whether there were flowers along the banks of rivers or not. It turns out there are seldom flowers around a river, even rainforest rivers. This year I had wanted to use more color in my work so I naturally started to realize the absence of flowers as I had wanted to use flowers to incorporate color. I decided to add the impression of flowers to my river impressionist abstract paintings since one of the rewards of being an artist is to create images the way we wish to see them. Ha!
This painting reminds me of the tropics with a canopy of branches over a river that is disappearing into the distance. There is the impression of coral flowers brightening the space. A few colorful flowers brighten an otherwise green and brown space. It reminds me of how a child brightens a day when children are often not seen in the adult world.
Paintings can be a great jumping-off point for imaginative stories. I could make up a whole story of exploration for this one as my eye is carried further and further back into interesting nooks and crannies into the beyond.
