In the winter months of 2021, I spent a lot of time walking alongside a nearby river and making paintings about it. I made 24 paintings for my 24-day online solo exhibit which is every April 1-24. After making all those paintings I started noticing the only colors I was using were blue, green, brown and variations of those colors. I started yearning for some other colors and thought it would be fun to have flowers in my paintings. I started to realize there really aren't many flowers around rivers. I was very disappointed to learn that.
Then, one day that Spring I suddenly discovered a patch of daffodils on the side of the parking lot! It sparked such joy in me. They stood out like a sweet child does in an otherwise adult environment. So refreshing and innocent, not realizing the joy they stimulate. Standing tall in their little patches of color.
