"Infinite Self" is a contemporary reinterpretation of the mandala, or contemplative energy field, symbolizing a space of meditation and energy through my geometric "X" or “Vortex” design. This inspiration is rooted in a homage to Frank Stella's series of paintings from the 1950s, reimagining their essence within a modern context. The piece is meticulously crafted from thousands of genuine U.S. Commemorative and Airmail postage stamps, spanning decades from the 1940s to the early 2000s. The collection of used and canceled stamps in this piece, each marked by its own history of use and bearing the distinct narratives of its travels, was carefully chosen for the various hues of blue. This imbues the artwork with a visual serenity and a thematic depth, inviting contemplation. These stamps, having navigated myriad paths and connections, contribute to a sense of meditative tranquility and calmness through the shades of blue.
