Aeolus is a piece crafted with a heavily impastoed surface featuring dynamic compositions of pink and purple shades. The upper segment of the canvas has swirling, irregular patterns mixing light pinks and darker magentas. As the eye moves towards the middle and lower sections, the colors transition to deeper purples and blues, accompanied by glittery specks and spots that add sparkle and depth.
The artwork's texture and color contrast are augmented by unique materials and techniques. It was developed on rough, extinct Belgian linen stretched over antique hardwood stretchers from the 1980s. The raw materials from Guerra Paint & Pigment feature a blend of acrylic and urethane mediums, combined with liquid pigment dispersions, powdered pigments, and metal elements, plus a touch of shimmering glitter. Additionally, the inclusion of chemical thickeners allows for the manipulation of heavy impasto, resulting in a tactile composition that invites viewers to explore its multifaceted surface. Aeolus, named for the Greek god of the winds, pays homage to the intricate beauty and fluid dynamism of natural phenomena.
