I love lines. Lines tell a story. I’m not talking about palm reading to tell the future, but more about how the lines and scars on our skin tell about the history of our lives. The inspiration for this painting came from a typical day during which my husband had just come inside from working on our small farm. He sat down to do some paperwork and then started looking at his hands. He showed me what he was looking at. His hands were worn from working and there were so many lines. It reminded me of the other lines I had just finished painting in my Battle Scars series, all of which told a personal story. The deep lines on his hands told a story of the hard work he was doing, both on that day and throughout his life. He is holding his hands out to share that story and because he is proud of the work he does.
