The inspiration for this painting came from a trip to the toy store while shopping for a birthday present for one of my daughters. She wanted a Wonder Woman action figure. After looking up and down the aisle with the other superheroes I had to ask one of the store associates where I would find her. I was told that Wonder Woman was in the “girl aisle”, not with the other superheroes – Super Man, Iron Man, Spider Man, etc. The “girl aisle” is the aisle of the toy store where almost everything is pink. There are pink princess dresses, pink toy cleaning supplies that advertise that your daughter can be “just like Mom”, baby dolls dressed in pink…and sure enough, on the bottom shelf, I found the Wonder Woman.
