Organic sculptural wall hanging with a New Zealand style. These individual pieces are combined together to create a unified artwork. Each piece has a lovely highly textured crevaced surface and it's own personality. A discreet loop is secured at the top of the knotted four plait rope enabling each sculpture to be hung on a small pin nail. The soft white tones with some wood grain coming through are a light and uplifting backdrop to highlight the detailed hangistones.
My thoughts on this piece are referencing the bond between a select tight knit group of women who may have found themselves bound together through events outside of their control, who grew together and now support eachother. They may be half sisters, step sisters not related by blood, cousins or friends who's bond develops into becoming family who support eachother through challenges and celebrate eachothers successes. Looking deeper one piece has many more grooves, having faced more challenges than the other two. One has a more cracked type of surface, just holding it together while the third central piece has had challenging experiences already and is a guide and supporting anchor for the other two. Each beautiful in their own right, surrounded in a unifying circle of white. You may see something completely different in this artwork. I don't always share my in depth thoughts on each artwork but this one seemed to need the story included.
