Christ in the Desert Monastery #2 by Jim Walther Image: I have painted this Monastery before but more than 20 years ago. I recently found my photos and have been using them for scenes in the upper Rio Chama valley. This beautiful and remote place is at the end of a very long dirt road accessed near Ghost Ranch. This is a Benedictine Abbey and professes the vow of silence. One can stay at the Abbey, when I visited, it was quiet and serene.
