The clean linework design of this kilnformed glass vessel shows off the effects that can be achieved with chemical reactions between different pieces of art glass. The fine gray line seen on the coldworked and polished top edge is the result of the reaction between the French vanilla interior and the dense white exterior. The interior gray lines are a result of the same reaction.

Glass threads (stringers) which have been slumped over stainless-steel forms at 1200 F in the kiln are applied to circular shapes cut from sheet glass. These pieces are fused overnight in a kiln at 1450 F. Over the next three nights this disk is slumped into consecutive deeper molds. During the last hours of this 12-hour slumping process protective gear is donned every 15 minutes, the kiln is opened and the level of the mold is checked and adjusted by hand. Once cool the vessel is coldworked with diamond disks given a final polish using a flat lap.
