Ancient Rings 83 bridges language and spirit, function and memory. At its core are five characters rendered in Oracle Bone Script—one of the earliest known writing systems, used over 3,000 years ago to inscribe questions to the unseen on turtle shells and ox bones.

Here, those ancient marks are reimagined in glass—cut by hand, letter by letter, then held within a field of quiet ivory rings. On one side: heart, spirit, soul, and spirit again, arranged like a whisper spoken in four directions. At the base, the character 光 (guāng)—meaning light—radiates upward and outward, grounding the piece in clarity and presence.

This vessel is not meant to be read, but felt. It speaks not in answers, but in resonance. The glyphs glow softly when backlit, appearing and disappearing with the light—like memory, like prayer, like the breath between thoughts.

In Ancient Rings 83, the vessel becomes a keeper of spirit—a reminder that language was once carved in fire and bone, and still has the power to hold what cannot be said.
