Ancient Rings 68 is a kiln-formed glass vessel that combines architectural precision with a luminous sense of vibrancy. Constructed from thousands of pieces meticulously cut from sheet glass, the vessel features a canvas of ivory rings intricately woven with translucent green and soft gray accents. The design is structured with rhythmic arches and grid-like inlays, creating an interplay of symmetry and flow.

The translucent green elements radiate a soft glow as light passes through, casting reflections that shift with perspective. These glowing sections are complemented by soft gray highlights, enhancing the piece’s depth and visual complexity. The careful arrangement of these elements gives the vessel a dynamic presence, where light, color, and form converge harmoniously.

Selected for the prestigious 2025 Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition, juried by Grace Kook-Anderson, The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum, Ancient Rings 68 continues a tradition of showcasing premier contemporary art. First juried in 1940, the Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition has celebrated some of the most distinguished names in American art.

Part of the Ancient Rings series, Ancient Rings 68 explores themes of connection, transformation, and precision. It invites viewers to contemplate the interplay between structure and light, offering a timeless representation of the mastery and innovation in kiln-formed glass artistry.
