Ancient Rings 55 is a stunning piece of kiln-formed glass artwork, measuring 6.25" high x10" diameter. Turquoise bands of increasing density radiate from a red amber oval. This colorful and intricate piece was inspired by ancient vessels, and the process of creating it involved thousands of hand-cut pieces of glass. Patiently assembled over days, thousands of 9x9 mm hand cut pieces of sheet glass create this intricate vessel. It evokes the patterns of ancient rings.
The pieces are fused at 1490F to form a flat disk and then slumped in three sucessively deeper molds a 1175F.
The matte finished opaque and transparent body is topped with a polished lip.
