This kiln-formed glass vessel with transparent turquoise shapes in french vanilla may, to some, evoke ancient adobe structures of the Southwestern United States. Some say like a kiva with windows.
Patiently assembled over days, 18,000+ 9x9 mm hand cut pieces of glass are fused in a kiln at 1500F to form a flat disk. The disk is then slumped in a 1200F kiln three times in molds of increasing depth. As the hot, soft glass begins to drop the molds are adjusted by hand to ensure the proper shape.
The matte finished body is topped with a polished lip.
