Patiently assembled over days, thousands of 9x9 mm hand cut pieces of sheet glass create this intricate vessel. It evokes the patterns of ancient rings. Perhaps trees?

The pieces are fused at 1490F to form a flat disk and then slumped in a 1175F kiln three times in molds of increasing depth using the Bullseye Deep Form three step ceramic molds. As the hot, soft glass begins to drop the molds are adjusted by hand to ensure the proper shape. The matte finished opaque and transparent body is topped with a polished lip.

A chemical reaction where the turquois blue and french vanilla glass touch results in a dark, almost black, intersection.
