Ancient Rings 103
Kilnformed glass vessel
6 × 10 inches
Ancient Rings 103 explores the relationship between structure, color, and light. Thousands of individually placed glass elements form a luminous lattice of ivory and transparent green that appears to emanate from two red forms, expanding as it rises across the vessel's curved surface.
As light passes through the transparent green, it projects a shifting network of luminous reflections beneath the vessel, extending the artwork beyond the glass itself and allowing light to become an active part of the composition.
Every element was cut, selected, and positioned by hand before firing. The finished vessel preserves the evidence of countless individual decisions, where precision and intuition work together to create a unified whole.
Part of the ongoing Ancient Rings series, this vessel continues an exploration of repetition, transformation, and the expressive possibilities of color, light, and form.
