Bend in the Canal

This painting is based on a well-known section along the C&O Canal in the Washington D.C. area. While walking along the towpath, I was taken by the fresh, sun-lit greens and the multitude of subtle colors in the cliff. Water is always a pleasure to paint, offering visual interest and textural contrast. This painting is very lightly varnished.
