Getting My Pink Back
"Getting your pink back" is a phrase that refers to rediscovering and reintegrating your sense of self as a new parent, reconnecting with the person you were before having a baby. A friend introduced me to this phrase, and I had never heard it before—until after I became a mother. It immediately resonated with me, especially when I learned that flamingos, after losing their vibrant pink hue, regain it by reintroducing the nutrients they need into their diet. Much like the flamingo’s process, becoming a mother felt like a period of losing myself, but also an opportunity to rediscover who I am. I chose this phrase as the title for the first painting I completed after my baby was born. It felt like a beautiful milestone—a moment of reclaiming my creative space and identity. I was thrilled to be back in my zone, feeling grounded, inspired, and reawakened.
