I was invited to submit work to the "Hear The Whistle Blow! Art of the Railway" exhibit at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, MT. This is one of two pieces I submitted. I recently acquired some old paper ephemera and decided to paint a train on an old expense bill from the Northern Pacific Railroad. My reference for the art was Ronald V. Nixon photography. The locomotive is NP1818, a Class-W3 Mikado.
