The painting “Chiffons” is named after the French definition of the word for cloth, or old and worn rags. The inspiration for this piece came from looking at photos of the immense amount of textile that ends up in landfills. As the environmental impact (7 to 17 million tons per year!) cannot be made light of, I tried to imagine a way to find beauty amongst all of the piles of rags.
