The newest of my bird portraits, these new narrative pieces feature a freehand machine stitched , or better said, painted bird that is collaborating with scenes found in toile decor fabrics. The bird is more than a portrait in that it emphasizes his full and brave body . The Eastern Bluebird is showing off his magnificent wings to the chickens in the toile scene . This drawing is based on a photograph from a bird app. on my iPad. This bird is created completely with thread, layering colors to create the form of the bird.
Hoop pieces are stretched and attached with double stick tape to a wooden solid circle that is then framed with an embroidery hoop. A second wooden disc is then glued down on back for durability and stability as well as a professional backing with a metal D-ring for hanging. Each piece is signed and dated along with name of bird on the back of each piece.
This piece is stretched in a 14” vintage embroidery hoop.
