This is the view of the Hudson River from the lawn at Wilderstein. The sloop Clearwater is sailing through the scene. The Clearwater project was started by famed musician Pete Seeger to help to clean up the Hudson, which was rife with pollution- including a hidden modern monster called PCBs. And in bygone days the family that built Wilderstein made their fortunes via a mercantile firm that almost certainly relied on the sloops of the time to ply their wares up and down the river. The Hudson Line of the railroad runs between the house and the river now, but back when, dad would commute home from work on the sloop, and then walk up from the dock at the foot of the hill.
