This piece began with a single jolt of color—an electric red I couldn’t get out of my head. From there, the painting grew organically, layer by layer, fed by the tension between shadow and light, stillness and movement. I was thinking about reflection—not just in the literal sense, like light bouncing off water—but in the emotional sense, too.
There’s a pulse running through this work: flashes of gold like flickers of memory, heavy swaths of violet and black grounding the chaos, and those vertical streaks of color that feel like energy rising or maybe unraveling. Some of the shapes emerged on their own, surprising me as I worked, which is always when I know I’m on the right track.
My hope is that this piece grabs you—not gently, but boldly—and reminds you of your own fire. It’s meant to be felt before it’s understood.
