This painting came from my own time standing and praying one morning in the Garden of Gethsemane during my trip to Jerusalem this year. It is a peaceful and meditative place even today, but to think that the Garden of Gethsemane is not too different today than in Jesus' time, I realized that the sun would have shined on this spot, just as it did during my visit, on that night Jesus came after the Last Supper and prayed. I hope this painting helps bring the Bible to life for you, and for this reason, I didn't want to paint a religious scene, rather I wanted to paint the impression of standing there so that we might all have a chance to better locate ourselves within the living story of Jesus our Lord.
