To the Ocean Breeze by Jeff Fioravanti
We’d go riding to the ocean
To watch the waves
Come rolling in
I remember
How you’d gather up
Some dry grass seeds
Gently cup them
In your hands
You’d whisper to them
Some sweet nothings
Then throw them
To the ocean breeze
Casting fate upon the wind
You’d lay your head
Upon my shoulder
You’d say,
Those were your dreams
Twisting out there on the sea
And if they one day
Came back on that breeze
Those lovely dreams
Would become reality
Now I sit here
By the ocean
Wondering,
Did those dreams drown
With your passing
So close, so far
You, and your dreams
Riding on that breeze
Just beyond my fingertips
Out of reach
