Uplifted captures the magic moment when the early morning light illuminates the cresting wave and its spray. This moment always fascinates me: notice the foam on the wave's front, pulled up by the force of the wave, thick enough to block the morning light, appearing dark at the wave's crest, and light against the dense, dark water at the base of the wave. That foam is actually the same value and color throughout, as it is in the same lighting condition in shadow. It's the conditions all around it that make it look so different.
